![]() Reasonably priced it offers great value in terms of smiles for miles. Its handling will surprise you, and might even change your mind about big wheeled bikes altogether if you aren’t already a fan. OverallĪchingly good looking, the Stache should be your go-to bike when you want to be fast and have fun. It was always planted and predictable, and blisteringly quick. You could be forgiven for thinking that at 120mm the Stache is a little under-forked, yet during the course of our tests it never baulked, never stuttered and never felt under gunned. I’ve ridden a few hardcore hardtails in my time and on a 26inch wheeled machine 140-150mm travel fork up front generally suits the really rough stuff. Pointing the Stache down a steep hill is where the fun really begins though, this is a very capable bike make no mistake. The Stache’s bigger wheels and pliable rear end help to keep that to a minimum though. Aluminium hardtails can often be a little “stiff” which can make climbing technical terrain difficult. The steering was responsive and the bike did exactly what you asked of it even in the tightest of single track.Ĭlimbing on the Stache is excellent, the long top tube and longish stem keep the front end down on even the steepest of climbs and of course the hard tail rear end offers instant drive. ![]() I’m still a fan of the 26inch wheel in most situations, however jumping on the Stache I never felt as if it was cumbersome or hard to handle. Trek have been working on the perfect geometry for 29ers for some time now and you can really feel it in the handling. There is endless grip in the dry, the Bontrager Expert tyres aren’t too capable in wet mud however, they definitely lean towards the race and speed side of the spectrum. Just a couple of pedal strokes from the very responsive drivetrain and you are up to cruising speed and already enjoying the bike.įor a 29er the wheelbase is quite short, the compact rear end, 68.3° head angle and “short” travel fork combine to keep things playful as far as the corners go. The Stache is fast, that’s the first thing you notice about it, and yes 29ers are quick and all that, but here the geometry combines with the lightweight and stiff frame to offer some blistering acceleration. ![]() However, the role of ASA in primary CVD prevention is challenging because of conflicting effects on CVD mortality rates ( 15). The role of ASA in reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related mortalities and acute myocardial infarction recurrence was shown first in an ISIS-2 clinical trial ( 14). For example, it can prevent COX-2 more effectively than COX-1 at high doses (> 1000 mg/day) ( 12), while low-dose ASA (75 - 100 mg/day) inhibits COX-1 ( 13). ![]() Cardiovascular Related Beneficial EffectsĪSA is well known to decrease cardiovascular events ( 11), exerting multiple beneficial effects in different dose ranges. In Figure 1, the mechanism of action of ASA is elucidated in detail.ģ. It should also be noted that the low-dose administration of ASA is partially effective on COX2/PGI2-mediated vascular modulation. To be specific, ASA can quench the COX-2 activity directly by acetylating the serine residue (Ser 516), which can, in turn, promote 15 (R)-HETE synthesis ( 10). Since platelets have no DNA content, they cannot synthesize new proteins thus, the inhibition of COX-1 by ASA is associated with the whole platelet lifetime (~ 7 - 10 days) ( 9). The essential activity of COX-1 and -2 is diminished in the presence of ASA after the irreversible acetylation of a serine residue in the active site of AA-binding channels ( 8). Various PGs, e.g., PGG2 and PGH2, are synthesized by the cyclooxygenase isoenzymes (COX-1 and -2) involved in inflammatory responses. Under pathophysiological conditions, arachidonic acid (AA), as a prostaglandin (PG) precursor, is released from the cell membrane by the activity of an enzyme named phospholipase A2 ( 7). Herein, we tended to highlight all clinical applications of ASA in dealing with anesthesiologists. Although the conventional prescription of ASA is due to its analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory effects, some neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, are also considered other pathological conditions for ASA medication ( 6). Also, mounting evidence has been developed about the importance of ASA consumption in women at high risk of preterm preeclampsia ( 5). However, the prospective role of ASA in decreasing the long-standing risk of numerous cancers has plausibly opened up a novel era ( 4). ASA was a principal pharmaceutical achievement in the 20th century and has been prescribed since then for various purposes, particularly for inhibiting cardiovascular and cerebrovascular pathologies ( 3). Due to its low toxicity and inexpensive cost, ASA is mainly touted as a widely used drug worldwide ( 2). Aspirin (ASA) is one of the first drugs that has come into a routine therapeutic protocol treatment since the willow bark was used as an agent by the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians in folk medicine ( 1). ![]() Ain't nobody got time for that: Responds with a reference to the Sweet Brown meme. Here comes dat boi: Responds with "Oh shoot, waddup?" in reference to this meme.So the witty developers behind the Google Assistant have made sure to acknowledge internet culture and memes with these funny commands. ![]() Google would be nothing without the internet, and vice versa.

Gomez managed to chalk up three racks and the remaining crowd went wild. Those who remained were switching their attention between what was left of Earl’s match and what was going on at the tables on either side of him (Shannelle Lorraine and Ada Lio were playing south of him, while Jesus Atencio and Mason Koch were battling it out north of him). People (though not many) started leaving, like baseball fans leaving a stadium when the score is 12-0 in the seventh inning, wanting to get ahead of the traffic jam. Instead, they got the professional ‘Earl’s here to win’ show, full of rock-solid shooting that saw him take control of a 2-2 match and win six in a row before some of the audience had even settled in. Outside of the drastic aesthetic change, Nidhogg 2's main addition is that of three new weapons. Nidhogg 2's soundtrack joins the ranks of Hotline Miami's as a surprisingly eclectic club mix. Each arena has a vastly different vibe with a wide variety of musical scores ranging from horrifying, to enchanting, to straight up danceable. Where the first Nidhogg was all pristine medieval arenas, this sequel expands the series breadth to shimmering rainbow stages in the sky, gruesome slaughterhouses, and the suffocating wetlands of a Viking sewer system. Other times it's purely a mood setting variant. Some add new obstacles that vary the flow of combat, be it a conveyer belt of hardened lava, claustrophobic tunnel, or tall grass obscuring both players' field of view. The new environments are also far more varied than that of the first Nidhogg, both aesthetically and practically. It's an amusingly anticlimactic end to each battle, when the victor is eaten, and the beast itself has never looked more laughably indifferent. In fact, the whole point of the Nidhogg's combatants is that they wish to be consumed by a god-like snake (that's the Nidhogg!) to arrive in Valhalla. These Silly Putty swordsmen (and swordswomen) exacerbate the ridiculous qualities of this gruesome sport, full of spectacular stunts and ultra violence galore. The gooey, bug-eyed combatants express their horror of being slain in the sort of comically exaggerated way that made Bart Simpson guffaw at many an Itchy & Scratchy episode. The shift from glamorous to gross is downright upsetting at a glance, but this initial impression melts away after a few rounds when you realise this garish aesthetic accentuates the game's goofy humour. Initially it's a shock, and not necessarily a pleasant one. It's better to run the opposite way so you'll respawn in their way quicker. Pro tip: Don't chase the player in the lead. Gone are the striking evocative 8-bit neon backdrops of old, and instead we're given excessively detailed, and often disgusting, animated environments that wouldn't feel out of place in a Ren and Stimpy episode. The most noticeable change this time around is the aesthetic, eschewing the first Nidhogg's classy pixelated sprites in favour of garish multicolored monstrosities that look like stretchy Play-Doh molds. This sequel doesn't reinvent the wheel but it does add further depth and flavour to its predecessor's winning premise in a delightful, if inessential, way. Messhof aced the basics, but had more to offer.Įnter Nidhogg 2. Lead developer Mark Essen spent three years refining Nidhogg's systems, so it would be a shame to simply let them run their course in a single cult hit. ![]() Nidhogg wasn't lacking in complexity, but it was in variety and scope. For some, however, it was too bare bones. It was a beautiful ballet of blades and brawn, distilled into a scant four maps. Barring that, there was always the option to viciously rip your opponent to pieces with your bare hands. Based on timing, positioning and momentum, you could slide into foes, dive kick, stab, parry, disarm, deflect, and toss your sword. Ludicrously simple on its surface, the depth came from a multitude of context-sensitive movesets. ![]() Messhof's two-player competitive fencing game shaved the one vs one fighting game to its core with only two buttons (jump and attack) and a single game mode wherein each player ran towards their goal on opposite ends of a seven-stage scrolling arena. The original Nidhogg was a great example of minimalist elegance. It's not revolutionary, but it's the best Nidhogg has ever been.
